LAUDE, The Lady Elizabeth School, Lliber

Headmaster Mr Richard Wijeratne B.A (Hons)

School Campus

Laude, The Lady Elizabeth School is an independent, coeducational, day school offering a complete education in English to pupils from three to eighteen plus. It has membership of NABSS, COBISEC and BAECE. Laude is located in Lliber in the Jalon Valley and the Primary department is located in Cumbre del Sol.

Pupils are admitted at any time during the year and follow a traditional English Education within the guidelines of the National Curriculum, leading to (I)GCSE and A Level qualifications. In addition to this the school provides the three required subjects of the Spanish National Curriculum (Castellano, Valenciano and Social Studies) for First Language Spanish students. The school also prepares Senior Students for entry into Spanish universities.
Specific emphasis is given to the development of the individual. Pupils are nurtured in a caring and orderly manner to enable them to realize their full potential. High standards prevail within a thriving environment in which Laude has developed enviable traditions in the fields of sport, music, speech, dance and drama.

The school provides a wide range of extra-curricular activities and sporting competition is encouraged at both inter-house and inter-school level.

Team spirit is encouraged by the House system and links with the local community through the various charitable initiatives that each house organizes.

There  is a limited amount of support for children with mild learning difficulties. This takes the form of withdrawal by a specialist teacher once or twice a week for approximately half and hour.

The Staff are well qualified and enthusiastic with a low turnover that encourages an atmosphere of stability. However, new staff have been recruited recently to satisfy the needs of the increased numbers, many of whom have qualified recently bringing the latest techniques to the school.

Each July there is a Summer Fun Club .

There is a School Council consisting of two elected representatives from each year, two members of staff and the Headmaster .The Council exists to ensure that all levels of the school are represented and feel that they have input into the development of the school. A Pupil Representative System has been preferred to a Prefect System in the Senior School. This allows pupils to seek advice from other older students in the sixth form who would have experienced the various challenges facing youngsters quite recently.

There  is a uniform up to the Sixth Form. The uniform shop is based in the Senior School.
