El Rodat

El Rodat is a beautiful detached finca dating from 1820, fully restored and maintaining many original features. Only a five minute walk away from the village of Jalon, famed for its award winning bodegas and Moscatel wine, as well as its restaurants and other amenities, yet within a 15 to 30 minute drive from the popular coastal resorts of Calpe, Denia, Moraira and Javea renowned for their white sandy blue flag beaches.

With accommodation for up to 6 people and set in a stunning rural location with 360 degree views of the surrounding countryside and mountains, El Rodat is a great choice for any holidaymaker. The finca is full of Spanish charm, and even has its own seven arch Riu Rau which in the past was used to make raisins from the local grapes. Tthere are still grapevines growing arched across the gravelled drive from the Riu Rau which in the summer months are laden with fruit. The accommodation consists of a good sized fully equipped modern kitchen, a large lounge with beautiful vaulted beamed ceiling, original Spanish shutters and open stone fire place, a large enclosed naya used as a dining area with views over the garden, the living and dinning areas boast many original features and are full of character, 2 double bedrooms, one with ensuite shower, one single bedroom plus a family shower room. There is also a sofa bed in the dining room/naya. A seperate utlity/laundry room with washing machine and sink unit leads to the rear of the property.

Externally there is an elevated small covered terrace area for dining with a small table & 4 chairs and two rustic recliner chairs for reading & relaxing, a fantastic 10 x 5 meter swimming pool with Roman steps, surrounded to one side by a beautiful wooden pergola sunbathing & terrace area, the covered Riu Rau has two large dining tables and several chairs to accommodate up to 12 people, the gardens are large and beautifully landscaped with hammock area and rustic stone table and benches

Amenities/Facilities Provided

The finca is centrally heated and also benefits from an open fire place making it ideal for colder weather and cosy nights in, as well as for those balmy hot summer days when the temperature is kept cool by the thick stone walls.

Outside

The fantastic 10 X 5 metre pool, which is accessed by roman steps at the shallow end, is the focal point of the beautifully landscaped gardens, where different areas are marked out for sunbathing, shade, entertaining and outside dining.

Externally there is a small elevated terrace area with table and chairs for 4 people plus two large recliner chairs for reading & relaxing. The large Swimming pool has sun terrace/sun bathing areas with 6 loungers, a beautiful wooden Pergola and built in wooden parasol with reeded roof, a Hammock area and stone table and two benches to seat 6 people for additional al fresco eating.

The Riu Rau has the original well, oven and several other traditional features, tables and seating for 12 people, gas BBQ and outside sink.. The Riu Rau can also be lit up at night for outside entertaining

Coast / Beach

The Costa Blanca is renowned for its white sandy blue flag beaches and several can be reached from the villa within 15 - 45 minutes drive. Calpe 15 mins. Denia 20 mins. Moraira 20 mins. Javea 30 mins. Altea 35 mins. Benidorm 45 mins.

Golf

There are a number of golf course within a 20 - 40 minute drive from the Jalon Valley. These include 2 Championship courses in Benidorm (30mins) designed by Jack Nicklaus, Oliva Nova Golf(40mins) designed by Seve Ballesteros, La Sella (20mins) designed by José María Olazábal, together with 9 hole course at Benissa (20mins) and Altea (25 mins). Both Alicante and Valencia, with their numerous courses, are only one hour´s drive away.

Travel

Nearest airports are Alicante (75km) and Valencia (80km). While this property is within walking distance to the town of Jalon and all its amenities, we would recommend car hire or use of a car.

Distances

This wonderful finca is situated in the heart of the beautiful town of Jalon that is quietly situated 20 minutes inland from Spain's Costa Blanca and offers some of the best scenery and climates that Spain has to offer. The Jalon valley is a spectacular and unspoilt place with a magnificent backdrop of mountains which surround the plains of olive trees, orange groves, vineyards, raisins and almonds. The area is full of natural beauty, traditional values and has a very hospitable nature. Just a few kilometres from the finca scattered throughout the valley are unspoilt villages including Alcalali, Lliber, Orba and Parcent with a choice of hundreds of bars and restaurants that offer both Spanish and International cuisine. The main town of Jalon is just a 5 minute walk away from the finca and is famous for its wine and produces in excess of 2.5 million litres a year, you can sample the Muscatel for which the area is famed as well as other wines at the local bodegas or better still accompanied with tapas at one of the local bars. The area offers a wealth of attractions including a large supermarket, hairdressers, bakeries, butchers, honey stores, beauty salons, newsagents and gift shops. The popular coastal resorts of Denia, Javea, Moraira and Calpe are just a 20 minute drive away whilst the bustling resort of Benidorm is some 45 minutes away.

Further Details

Other places of interest in the area are A 5* paragliding school in Parcent village and paragliding from the mountain (Coll de Rates), only a 10 minute drive from the finca. There is also the Donkey sanctuary in the mountains toward Bernia where one can offer support for the project by indulging in an incredible lunchtime feast with amazing views where all profits go towards the well being of the donkeys. There is also the famous mountain spring and walks on the Serra Bernia, only a 10 minute drive away. Around 50 minutes drive away are the famous theme parks of Benidorm, including Terra Mitica, Terra Natura, and Aqualandia Water Park & Wild Life Park. Historic Guadalest and the famous water pools and waterfalls are just 30 mins drive away. The area around the property is particularly good for walkers/hikers, cycling, bird watching and sight seeing.

Booking Notes

Prices shown are for rental of the property per week in euros. On booking, a 30% deposit is required with the balance due eight weeks before the start of your holiday.
A security fee of 300 euros is also payable when you pay your final balance. It will be refunded to you at the end of the holiday rental period by bank transfer. This security fee is to cover any damage to the property or its contents/fixtures and fittings. We will always discuss any deductions with you before returning the security deposit.
